Jesse reminded me that there’s covered picnic tables at Birchwood Park, which is atop Squalicum Creek Park. Good job, Jesse! So, much like the last picnic, I’ve planned a bit of a circuitous route, since Liam is interested in biking thru Bellingham Tech. They like looking at the metal sculptures.
Meet at: Reynolds house, 10:30am. Bike safety check, add cell phone to the list. Map Review. I’m happy to meet other attendees directly at the park or at a way point at a specified time (please contact me).
Food: sausages and hotdogs. I’ll bring the same amount of hot dogs, carrots, nuts, cheese and celery sticks. I suggest bringing a thermos of something warm to drink along with your own lunch. I’m happy to share surplus hotdogs and condiments.
Route: go down West st and turn LEFT away from the ball field and trace onto Nequalicum. Find sculptures at BTC. (I don’t think construction is done at the west end of Squalicum Creek Park so let’s not exit the north parking lot trail). Rather go up Marine Drive to the Bay to Baker Trail near Timpson Drive and follow the Bay to Baker trail through the north edge of Squalicum Creek Park until we get to Birchwood Park playground. Lunch. After lunch, let’s continue north-east along Bay to Baker, merge onto Squalicum drive and hit Cornwall Park. Play as desired. Route home can be flexible. Nap times and other schedules might come into play, of course.
(The google map route is actually better than the mapquest route, the biking data is better.)
Please contact me if you’re available or if you’d like to meet us there.
