Beautiful Hardwood Bicycle #bike #gearlust
Renovo R3 Road cycle. So apparently bamboo and hardwood cycles are more flexible and better at vibration absorbtion, so the ride is very smooth. The other hardwood cycles on this site are also gorgeous!

Mojave Solar One Site Selection
Having grown up in the Mojave desert, seeing the first Solar One demonstration project constructed, I had no idea a second project location was being selected. Who doesn’t like solar power? Well, it’s important to not destroy habitat, and while we need solar power, the environmental considerations for a project done 20 years ago have…

Home energy calculator
This appears to be an interesting energy calculator, but I haven’t attempted my own energy calculation with it yet. I did look at the Dept of Energy’s website recently at power saving tips, and the one that struck me the most was this: move your fridge away from your over, range, or exhaust vents. http://hes.lbl.gov/consumer

The alternative is a non-derailler transmission, a geared hub. This would be applicable to a single-speed bicycle, or even a…

People Are Happier with Pets than Computers
This thread on biking with pets makes me happy. Much happier than dealing with flaming bits of computer…you can tell it’s been a ruff night. Ruff! Ruff!

400 lbs bananas on a cargo bike
Really, these stunts need to be done. People are not normally convinced that you can even take so much as a briefcase on a bicycle–people probably think they can carry more using a skateboard than a bicycle because they don’t need their hands to steer a skateboard, right?

2010-05-14 Even Lower Rear Bike Rack
I was discussing bicycle racks earlier. I really like the idea of managing your center of gravity, improving your balance, and moving the load lower on your bicycle helps. Here’s a bicycle rack that you can mount panniers lower down on. Top bags for rear bike racks mount best with snap adapters. Here’s an Ortlieb…
