Former Columbia Brewery, Astoria, OR
This is from the alleyway where the trolley tracks are. Notice how all the copper wiring has been pulled (and presumably recycled). Anyone know if this was it’s last position, and its actually gone?
Here’s a post covering a number of good points about why outlawing children under 6 on bikes or trailers is sheer inanity.

Yes: obesity epidemic, heighten fear of cars, avoid traffic reduction, avoid slower speed limits, lets use sketchy data from a single survey to pass another law! Lets make it illegal to bike our kids to school and to parks and their play dates. All hail nannytopia!
My sister went down to the tweed ride in Portland this weekend. Looks like there’s some good photos up on flickr. Lots of sepia work, of course! I’m going to keep a lookout for grapma’s wool clothes as Goodwill. Bellingham will have a Tweed Ride someday, and I’ll be ready!
My sister also saw a wonderful example of the DIY bike spirit: a mother that built her own wooden cargo boxes for the back of her longtail bike. Big enough to carry her groceries and her baby seat. Awesome!
