  • Lock It or Lose It (Bike Commuters)

I’ve had brakes stolen and neighbors have had their bikes stolen out of garages. I’m lucky that I don’t need to park my bike downtown or outside. • Towing a Wire Hand Cart?

I really like the idea of the Burley Travoy, which is a much refined version of the concept of pulling something like a (Whitmore) wire utility cart–the kinda cart that “grandmas” do their shopping with. • Plan Ahead: July 30, Tour de Whatcom

Tour de Whatcom is a charity ride with 20, 50 and 100 mile routes. Last year I saw kids and seniors, Xtracycles, and tandems on the 20mi route. http://www.tourdewhatcom.com/ I’m looking forward to trying the 50 mi route on my recumbent in 2011. This should be easy compared to the STP on July 9-10.

This article discusses tensions of average income, time and cost barriers to eating produce in a society where affordable food is defined by “modern” canned veggies and processed grains. http://www.newsweek.com/2010/11/22/what-food-says-about-class-in-america.html I am priveleged to eat a lot of locally produced raw veggies, it is a central pillar to my personal health. Food is an area…

  • Sudden Valley Bike Commuter

Tonight when I was at Earl’s Bike Shop, the customer ahead of me was an enthusiastic bike commuter and I could tell he has a few habits like mine and some I should adopt. The first thing I noticed in common was our want of light: his helmet was equiped with a Nite Rider USB…
